One Month Old

Eleanor is a month old today! It is hard to believe that it has already been a month since this precious little lady joined us. But at the same time, it is difficult to remember what life was like without her. She is so new yet she fits in perfectly to our family. Unfortunately, it took a while for Eleanor to get back to her birth weight. In fact, she was either losing weight or just maintaining her weight for the first two weeks of her life. I was hospitalized for preeclampsia a week after she was born, which I'm sure was a main factor to her lack of weight gain. I wasn't also producing as much milk this time around. We tried very strict feeding schedules, drinking 4-5 servings of Mother's Milk Tea, oatmeal for breakfast and lots and  lots  of comfort suckling to name a few. It took several visits to the clinic and appointments with the lactation consultant until we narrowed down that it was most likely my allergy medications that was causing the low milk supply. One Month Old

Amelia is one month old today! Time really does fly with the second child. I mean, how can it be a month already?! Like most of the babies in the world, Amelia likes to be held when she is sleeping. I think it is because she likes to have something near her face (i.e. my chest, a blanket, etc). We have started wearing her during the day and so far, it works out for everyone. She naps and I'm able to do a few chores around the house. Nighttime sleep is still hit and miss. Sometimes she sleeps for up to 3.5 hours and some nights she is up eating every hour. I still do not routinely place Amelia on her tummy for tummy time (I know, I know…) but I can tell her neck muscles are getting stronger. She is still a bit floppy but she is able to lift her head up for a few seconds now. The same goes with her hands. However, she still unintentionally claws her face when she gets angry---mostly when she is in her carseat, which makes her even more angry because of the pain. We have solved...

One Month Old

Nathaniel is a month old today! With his Big Ted from Uncle Robbie I'm ashamed to admit that most days I wish Nathaniel is already a little bit older because I have this irrational belief that things will be just easier if he is. And now that I look at the past month, that belief is true in some aspects but now my heart also aches... I look at my son and cannot believe that he's already a month old. Soon he will be smiling, "talking", crawling, and next thing I know he'll be running away from me. And so I snuggle with my little boy a little bit longer. Look at him more intently. And treasure these moments that I know won't last very long. 12.25.10 10 days old He didn't have to wake up, he'd been up all night Laying there in bed listening to his new born baby cry He makes a pot of coffee, he splashes water on his face His wife gives him a kiss and says it's gonna be ok It won’t be like this for long One day soon we'll look back ...
