Find Your Happiness

Whenever I visit Indiana, I always spend more time with my nephew since Daniel and Nathaniel are so close in age. So unfortunately, it means less time spent with my niece Isabel because it is just so difficult to have three kids under three. So while Nathaniel was spending time with my in-laws, I had a full day with just Isabel. Isabel is a completely different child when she's an "only child." She is so cuddly and sweet and I love that she's a good eater like my son so I never have to worry about what to feed her (she eats what we eat!). She loves dogs and is always by my Mom's dog, Spencer. She speaks Russian and says "dah" for yes :) The only down side with this kiddo is you can't say 'no' to her without her going hysterical. For example? Sometimes, I cannot believe we still have these fake vampire teeth from last Halloween. But every time I pick it up and think about throwing it in the trash, I remember how much fun Nathaniel and my husband have with this silly thing. Dean loves to put them on and make Nathaniel laugh by talking like Bane from Batman (N doesn't even know who the character is but still think it's hilarious). And Nathaniel randomly puts them on and gets a kick at surprising me. Never a dull moment with the boys in my life.

Today was Nathaniel's first day of school to the Mother's Day Program. It is the same schedule as last year (Tuesdays and Thursdays for four hours) and his last "unofficial" school until he starts PreSchool next fall. This year's first day of school is so much different compared to last year's . Nathaniel couldn't wait to go to school and he did not cry when I dropped him off. In fact, I lingered a bit longer waiting for him to acknowledge that I am leaving. So when he didn't, I gave him a hug and said I'll miss him. His reply, "No, Mommy. You need to be brave and strong!" Needless to say, I cried in the car because my little baby boy is growing up! "What do you want to be when you grow up?" "I want to be a fireman. So I can ride the big truck and when your house is on fire, I can save you!"

Nathaniel absolutely loves big cities and tall buildings. His eyes always gets so big whenever we drive by a major city. So when we spent an evening in Atlanta last month, we knew we had to stay at one of the big hotels. We stayed at the 64th floor of The Westin Peachtree Plaza. The hotel has wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor window and Nathaniel sat by the ledge from the time we arrived till super late bedtime and again as soon as he woke up until we had to checkout. He loved admiring the tall buildings and watching the teeny-tiny cars on the interstate. It also made a great game of I-Spy and he loved pointing out the places we have visited such as the  Georgia Aquarium and the  World of Coca Cola .
