Eleanor is a month old today! It is hard to believe that it has already been a month since this precious little lady joined us. But at the same time, it is difficult to remember what life was like without her. She is so new yet she fits in perfectly to our family.
Unfortunately, it took a while for Eleanor to get back to her birth weight. In fact, she was either losing weight or just maintaining her weight for the first two weeks of her life. I was hospitalized for preeclampsia a week after she was born, which I'm sure was a main factor to her lack of weight gain. I wasn't also producing as much milk this time around. We tried very strict feeding schedules, drinking 4-5 servings of Mother's Milk Tea, oatmeal for breakfast and lots and lots of comfort suckling to name a few. It took several visits to the clinic and appointments with the lactation consultant until we narrowed down that it was most likely my allergy medications that was causing the low milk supply. We didn't need to supplement with formula--although that may be against medical advice (gasp!). But Eleanor was back to her birth weight by the later part of week three.
To say Eleanor doesn't like to be put down would be an understatement! This baby would not sleep unless we are holding her. It was easy when my Mom was still here so we had an extra body to tend to the older kids' needs. But now it is just me (Dean is back to work) and I am still trying to find my groove. In the meantime, we are all getting a lesson about patience.
