Snowpocalyse in North Carolina

North Carolina was hit with a snowpocalyse  few inches of snow this week. Since it only happens every few years, the Marine Corps base and the entire town has been closed since Tuesday (there's even a curfew enforced!). Nathaniel has been asking for snow so you could just imagine when he woke up and saw the white, ice-y stuff on the ground. It's technically sleet that accumulated overnight, not the soft, fluffy kind. But to the boy, it's good enough. Nathaniel's snow suit is from 2011 when he was two years old so it barely fits. It didn't snow in Indiana back in 2012 when we went home for Thanksgiving so we didn't need to get him one then. And when they were hit with multiple feet of snow last year (and still going on!), we ended up not going home and stayed in Georgia instead getting the house ready for rent. And you know Nathaniel is not used to the snow when he treats it like dirt ;) Every time snow sticks on him,

8  Reason no. 137 to have children: free labor. Nathaniel "helping" us re-paint my royal purple bedroom to a more neutral boring color. 9  While taking a break from painting and laying down on our royal-treatment bed (aka air mattress), Nathaniel said my breath stunk ! I took offense since I know it wasn't true but then he covered his nostrils with his fingers. I couldn't help but laugh. What a little punk! 10  Rain drops on my driver's side window while Hubby takes Riley for a doggy potty break during our drive up from Georgia to North Carolina. 11  The window in the hotel room we're staying at while waiting for a base housing offered great lighting. I'm glad Nathaniel cooperated. What a ham! 12  Little piggies! 13  Reading "The Hunchback of Notre Dam" after breakfast. 14  Since I was unable to see an OB here in North Carolina because of referral/paperwork/holiday/no availability on base/etc., Nathaniel will be my baby doctor fo

Soccer

The boys played soccer in the garage while the packers unload our things last week. I was able to unpack most of the kitchen (see the empty boxes by the truck), which sounds pretty impressive but it's actually not. During our California to Texas move, I was able to finish unpacking the kitchen by the time the packers left. I guess being 36 weeks pregnant this time around is a pretty good excuse for not accomplishing the same task!

Stinky Breath

While taking a break from painting our house in Georgia and relaxing on our royal-treatment bed (aka air mattress), Nathaniel commented that my breath stunk! I took offense since I know it wasn't true but then he covered his nostrils with his fingers. I couldn't help but laugh. What a little jerk!

Project 365: Week 1

1 Hubby always calls me a dirty Indianapolis Colts fan so Nathaniel rationalized that must mean they are a "clean" Kansas City Chiefs fan ;) He loves the Chiefs just like his Daddy! Also, we rang in the New Year by going to Ikea in Atlanta. 2 On our way out from the store, Nathaniel said: "Mommy, let's go back to bed ." "Why?" "Because it's raining!" 3 Giving Riley a hug. 4  Hubby is painting Nathaniel's room into a neutral color to get the house ready for rent. I asked Nathaniel to pretend that he is sad and this is the face he gave me. Little stinker. 5  I am upset that this photo is soft focus but I absolutely love Nathaniel's smile. I see a glimpse of the handsome, young man that he will become. And I purposely added the grain effect to the photo to hide my imperfection. 6 Moving boxes make great hide and seek spot. 7  Nathaniel spent at least 15 minutes "working out and helping the movers&q

A Glimpse

I am so upset that this photo is soft focus. My composition changed (thus the manual focus, too) since Nathaniel decided to sit up. But I can't make myself to delete it because I love his smile in the photo. I see a glimpse of the handsome, young man he will become and I am so thrilled to have the front seat and witness it all. P.S. I purposely added grain to hide my imperfection.

Clean Chiefs Fan

Hubby always calls me a dirty Indianapolis Colts fan so Nathaniel rationalized that must mean they are "clean" Kansas City Chiefs fans ;) He loves the Chiefs just like his Daddy! And tomorrow, the St. Louis household will be divided again because of the first round of the play-offs. Top photo: "Boo Colts!" Bottom photo: "Go Chiefs!" Nathaniel just randomly burst this out at any given moment. Also, we rang in the New Year by going to Ikea in Atlanta. We bought bookcases to replace the ones we have that are falling apart. After three moves (thanks to the Marine Corps!), they are not about to survive another one!

Back to Bed

While the entire Midwest and Northeast are buried in snow, it's just a cold rainy day here in Georgia. And on our way out from the store, Nathaniel said: "Mommy, let's go back to bed." "Why?" "Because it's raining!" What a great idea, son. Unfortunately, we still had a ton of errands to do.
