Postpartum and Hair Loss

One of the perks of pregnancy that I am really, really missing right now is taking a break from scooping hair out of our shower drains and sweeping strands off the bathroom floor. I have long, thick Asian hair so I'm used to occasionally doing this pre-pregnancy. However since post-baby, I have to unclog the tub daily since my hair is falling in handfuls and sweep strands of hair off the floor of the ENTIRE house. I can't run my fingers through my hair without two to three strands falling off. It doesn't help either that my six month old baby thinks pulling my hair is one of the funniest things in the world. Apparently, there is not much I can do about it other than wait and hope that it really will stop by the time my son hits his first birthday. I don't have a problem with hair thinness and I would really prefer not to cut my hair shorter, so how did you Mamas deal with hair loss?

Father's Day

Yesterday was my husband's first father's day. I worked during the day so we went out to eat for dinner. I felt bad working during father's day but Dean said he loved spending the day with just him and his son :)  Nathaniel refused to smile because he wanted to sleep. Dean's father's day strawberry cheesecake. It has been awhile since I baked cheesecake so the consistency is a little off but it still tastes really yummy!

Half Birthday!

Nathaniel is six months old today! Check out his baby teeth :) And to celebrate his half birthday, I baked him a "half birthday cake." It's a yellow cake with homemade buttercream icing and covered in homemade marshmallow fondant. It's my first attempt at cake decorating (and working with fondant(!) for that matter) so please be gentle with the criticisms :) At the last minute, Dean decided to cut a candle in half. With my brother-in-law's Aunt Nathaniel looked very excited to "blow out" the candle. Silly boy :)

Socks

06.09.10: Nathaniel got bored watching the Stanley Cup finals (go Blackhawks!) with his daddy so he started eating his socks...

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We finally made a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium last Saturday thanks to my brother-in-law's Aunt who surprised us with free tickets! Nathaniel might only be almost half a year old but he enjoyed watching the fish and other sea creatures. Reading about Cannery Row 's history Otter The land across the ocean is where we live. Thus, it's called Seaside :) Flamingos I enjoyed taking pictures of the jellyfish! Father and son moment Nathaniel "pledged" to ditch the car. Here's the video . Seahorse And as always, being the "photographer" of the family means no pictures of me again :)
