Cleopatra Bangs

While we were in Indiana for Thanksgiving, Nathaniel and his cousin Daniel had their hair cut together. Cookie Cutters (hair cut salon that specializes in children) usually does a great job cutting Nathaniel's hair but they just messed up big time this time. The lady gave Nathaniel what I have dubbed, the Cleopatra bangs (see last photo). I hate it. I think it's worse than the chili bowl the base in Monterey, CA gave him. It's just plain horrible and I cannot wait till it's long enough so we can fix it :(

The End of His Long Hair

A few days ago, I blogged about Nathaniel's  last day of long hair . I am still so very happy with this decision and thankful that Hubby finally agreed to cut his hair. Nathaniel did very well and didn't cry. We didn't have to bribe him with a sucker to stay still! He did refuse to take after photos, though :) It also started hailing as soon as we were sat down. We were very worried about our new vehicle but so far, we haven't noticed any damage. It was Nathaniel's first time seeing hail and he was very amused to see ice falling down from the sky.

His Last Day of Long Hair

This past Sunday, we finally!!! took Nathaniel to get his hair cut. The temperature has been in the unbearable triple digits and the poor boy just looked miserable even with his hair up in a ponytail. The original plan was to wait until our visit in Indiana in a few weeks were Hubby won't be able to stop me to cut his hair (devious, I know.) But Dean finally agreed to have it cut so I seized the moment right away in case he changes his mind.

Help Me Choose a Short Hair Style!

Since high school, I have always wanted to donate my hair to Locks of Love . But every time the weather starts to get hot, I end up chopping my hair to just below shoulder length. I gave up the idea in college and in my early years as an RN and just never thought I'd have the patience to stick with it. Well, it has been a year and half since I vowed to really do it this time. It helped a lot that my hair stylist resides in Indiana and I refuse to have anyone else cut it. The one time I did in California, it was such a mess. Here I am with semi-wet and unstyled hair. I've given up blow drying it since it takes more than half an hour and that's just not realistic when you have a toddler. Instead, I've embraced and emphasize my naturally beach wavy-hair. But I am finally getting it cut next week! I am going back and forth between getting it cut to my old college hairstyle (short & layered) or going bold and try a different style and/or cut super short. I know ...

Haircut

Nathaniel was in dire need of a haircut and I finally took him yesterday. Strangers were starting to refer to him as a girl on a regular basis! His Daddy took him to his last haircut a few months ago and Nathaniel sat on his lap. I wasn't there (which honestly made me sad) but Hubby said Nathaniel did well until they had to use the clipper. This time around, Nathaniel wasn't too happy! He didn't want to use the cover and he really got agitated when the hair stylist started cutting the hair near his ears. Thankfully, I thought to bring a candy. I suspected he wouldn't handle this very well especially since we went around his naptime. He sat still and behaved for the rest of the haircut. He actually got so preoccupied with eating the sucker and watching cartoons that he didn't want to leave when it was finished! I know it's just a silly, little haircut but it always makes me sad seeing him with his new, short hair. Nathaniel always looks ...

Fade-In Hair Cut: Fail

As a Marine, my husband is required to always have a clean cut and shaved face. This means a haircut every week and here in Monterey, that equals to almost one thousand dollars a year. In an effort to save money, we have talked about cutting his hair myself. Well, my mom gave us a Wahl haircut set for Christmas so last night, I cut Dean's hair. I didn't think I did a bad job but I could tell where there were patches of "holes." In my defense, it is my first haircutting experience ever; we waited until dark to cut his hair so we had very poor lighting; and fade-in haircut is one fo the most difficult cuts out there---even some professionals have a hard time doing it! Well, I must have done such a horrible job because he ended making me shave his head. He's going to kill me for posting this! (see: unshaved face) He is also growing out his mustache... He said he will shave it once he completes his first full marathon in April or when he g...

First Haircut

Nathaniel's hair was getting so long people were starting to refer to him as a girl. We knew he needed a haircut but we wanted to wait until we are here in Indiana. There is a haircut salon here called Cookie Cutters and they cater specifically to little children. Nathaniel did really well and fussed only a little when they used the razor. My mom and hubby's parents were there too to witness this Baby's First moment.   With Oma   We chose the old fashion car Getting his hair wet Busy watching Dora the Explorer Saving a few strands of his hair for the certificate He already looks like a pro!
