Seventh Year Anniversary

In the past seven years, my husband has helped me cross dark alleys and climb beautiful mountains. He acts like a buffer and he calms my nerves---and still manages to do so even when he is 6,700 miles away and seven hours timezone ahead. He has seen me in my best and put up with my worst. He is my biggest supporter, spiritual leader and best friend. We have also weathered hard storms and celebrated amazing rainbows together. The past seven years has not always been easy but I can't imagine it being any other way. We live an unpredictable, chaotic and imperfect but happy life. My husband is the stuff that my dreams were made of. And I am one lucky woman to call him mine. Dean, I still choose you. 2008:  Wedding Day 2009:  First Year Anniversary 2010:  Second Year Anniversary 2011:  Third Year Anniversary 2012:  Fourth Year Anniversary 2013:  Fifth Year Anniversary 2014: Sixth Year Anniversary

Strawberry Picking

It has been hot, icky and muggy for the past few days. But not today! Today, it was cool, breezy, and the temperature were in the high 60s/low 70s. So we celebrated this cool front with an impromptu trip to Mike's Farm for some strawberry picking. I am so glad our friends were able to join us especially since it was so last minute. So last minute that I texted two friends to see if they wanted to join us and were ready leave in 30 minutes. Ha! (And they both did!). This is Nathaniel's fourth year and Amelia's second year strawberry picking. Nathaniel, for the first time ever!, actually picked the majority of the berries. I'm not sure if having his best friend Nikolai there had anything to do with it (they went on their own way) but I sure liked it.  Last year , Amelia was just 2.5 months old so she just napped. This year, she was our quality control personnel! Strawberries are one of her favorite fruit so there was no stopping her from munching o...

Mother's Day 2015

The children (with a big help from their Dada) gave me a beautiful bouquet of stargazer lilies and iris flowers for Mother's Day. I wanted to capture them in their full glory and Amelia kept photobombing my photos. I had to crop her little fingers and leg off of most of these. But in the end, I stopped fighting it and just let her be near the flowers. Amelia loves flowers (even weeds!) and they just make her so happy. For Mother's Day, I wore the flower pin Nathaniel made at school to church. I love that it him so happy and proud. The three of us went to lunch after church and Nathaniel kept saying I could pick the place since it was Mother's Day. He said we could go anywhere I want... well, anywhere except for sushi. ;)

Marbles Kid Museum

After a delicious lunch at Chuck's , we went to Marbles Kid Museum . I am very impressed with this place! There is so much hands on activities for the kids. I spent most of the time watching Amelia place the green balls to this little chute that sucks the ball all the way up and then back down to the pig's trough. Meanwhile, my sister stayed with Nathaniel as he jumped, hopped, ran, climbed, etc at the workout room. Nathaniel was also able to use real tools. Most kids gave up after they found out cutting wood with a saw takes a long time. But Nathaniel stuck through it. I am very proud of his determination.

Sara P. Duke Gardens

We spent the first half of Sunday exploring the Sara P. Duke Gardens in Duke University. It is such a beautiful place and a lot bigger than I expected! I hit 10,000 steps on my Fitbit Charge by the time we were done walking most  of the place. It was also a great opportunity to take a photo of my sister's OOTD (outfit of the day).
