Find Your Happiness

For the past couple weeks, Eleanor has begun to pay attention to food and people eating. It is so awesome to witness these babies try to make sense of the world around them. And since she is now six months old, we will be introducing solids pretty soon. I really enjoy exclusively breastfeeding so I try to push it as later as possible. But like Hubs says, it is time.

This weekend, Amelia had her first official solid food. I figured since she is almost seven months old, I probably should start offering it to her more seriously. I was going to introduce it to her a few weeks ago but we were all hit with some nasty plague bug and it took Amelia weeks to recover. In fact, she hated taking her medication (Tylenol, Amoxicillin then switched to Augmentin) that she was gagging and spitting everything up. I was very worried developed an aversion to food. Unlike her older brother , Amelia has no issue eating rice cereal mixed with just water. (Nathaniel preferred his food warm and mixed with breast milk). She was confused at first as expected but quickly figured out what to do. I still can't believe we are already at this stage. Everything seems to go so fast this time around!

This weekend, Nathaniel had his first big boy food and he loved it! We were going to wait until he is closer to six months but he was definitely showing signs that he is ready for solid foods. I swear he salivates every time he sees food and if only his fine motor movements were in tuned, he'll steal your food too. Anyway, Nathaniel is so ready that he right away prefers his cereal thick and is already eating a tablespoon of cereal mixed with an ounce of breastmilk twice a day! And for the last two nights that we fed him cereal before bedtime, he even slept for eight hours straight (8p-4a). Yay! This weekend, we also noticed a little baby tooth starting to stick out! Nathaniel has been teething since middle of March and we suspected they will start showing but not this soon!
