Find Your Happiness

These were taken on Hubby's last weekend with us before he left to go to school. It has only been a little over two weeks since he left but it sure feels like a long time ago. We are slowly finding our new routine and have even ventured out on our own. I can be quite a hobbit so Dean went as far as telling our neighbors to knock on our door if they haven't seen me in a week. Har-de-har-har. I make sure to plan one mini-outing for us every week and it has helped the days go by faster. But at the same time, it makes us miss Hubs/Daddy even more because we all wish he was with us. And I know we all feel that way because just when that thought crosses my mind, Nathaniel verbalizes it. We are having a good time exploring our new and surrounding towns but we sure miss Hubs/Daddy a lot.

We gave Amelia her first "real" bath at home on Monday, February 17th. She wasn't very happy at first until we found the right water temperature. Unlike her older brother, Amelia likes her water lukewarm (instead of reeeeeally warm like Nathaniel). I am very glad that we have another water baby because I can definitely use this tool when I need to calm and soothe a crying baby!

It's no secret that Nathaniel loves bath and bubbles. Combine both and it's for sure going to be a great time. He calls bubble bath, "bubbles bath" probably because he thinks it's literally a bath made from the bubbles you blow. It's silly but I try not to correct him because eventually he will soon get it right. And it will just be another proof that my little boy is growing up. I have also been capturing a lot of good, artistic and sometimes goofy pictures of Nathaniel. I have discovered that instead of just relaying on lifestyle photography (which I still love) or getting frustrated that Nathaniel doesn't want to pose, I just ask him if he wants me to take a picture of him doing what he was already doing, things he's holding, etc. Nine times out of ten, he will cooperate as long as I show him the picture on my DSLR or iPhone. Nathaniel loves water ever since he was a newborn. So it is no surprise that he also enjoys showers as much as baths. He says, "Make it rain!"

Nathaniel and I safely arrived yesterday late afternoon here in Indiana. God definitely watched over us and was with us throughout the travel. We started early and left around 6:15am, just as my husband left for work, too. We were blessed with great driving weather and very minimal traffic. When Nathaniel napped after only an hour (10a-11a) with five more hours of driving to go, I was for sure we would have a bad rest of the trip. But he did great! His brain on the other hand is a different story. I am sure it is mushed from watching Monsters, Inc (twice), The Incredibles, Dora the Explorer and Word World. He is not allowed to watch TV for the rest of his life ! Well... maybe again in two weeks when we're on our way back to Georgia ;) My nephew Daniel is spending the evening and all day tomorrow with us since my sister is on call at the hospital tonight. This past weekend, Nathaniel slept six hours straight! The longest he slept last night was only four hours, which Baby N has been doing for quite a while now, but we're hoping this is the beginning of sleeping through the night :) Nathaniel also found his hands and discovered that they taste yummy! I probably should break this habit now but the little one is finally self-soothing. I suppose we could always give him the same treatment Dean got---mittens!
