And so the days of calling off work because I have a sick child begins. Nathaniel is having high fevers again and even though our babysitter was still willing to take care of him, I just couldn't go to work knowing my child is sick. I made a promise to myself that work outside of home comes after being a wife and a mom. But I am questioning now whether I should have called off work as I listen to Nathaniel laughing as he plays with our dog, Riley. But even though his fever is under control, I still need to take him to his pediatrician. His fevers are averaging greater than 102F and he had high fevers last week too while Hubby's family were in town . Obviously, whatever it is causing the fever is back again. It could be as simple as teething, an ear infection, strep throat, a nasty virus going around. But I'd rather be safe than sorry.

For the next two days, I will be at the new employee orientation for my second nursing job. Did I tell you about that? It is on the Neuro ICU floor so this is my home! A little over a month ago, I had an interview and was offered the position a day before my birthday. I wasn't going to accept a second job but like I said, Neuro ICU is my prior RN experience and I just couldn't say no. The next few weeks (maybe even months!) will be busy trying to balance and adjust to two new PRN (as needed) nursing jobs, life at home and well, just life in general. Prayers will definitely be appreciated. I'll be missing this Spiderman-crazed little guy but I know he will have a great time with his Dada. My husband thankfully has Mondays and Tuesdays off (or at least for the next few more weeks). They rarely ever get to spend time alone by themselves so I know this is a great bonding time opportunity for them, too.

God works in wonderful ways and has given me a nursing position that works perfectly with our family. I had an interview a couple weeks ago at a local hospital and was offered any position I desired. After much discussion, we chose to go with per diem. My commitment is a minimum of only three 12-hour shifts in a month . I do have to work two major holidays and pray and hope that Hubby have those off so Nathaniel doesn't have to spend it without both of us. Not having worked since the later part of 2010, I was no longer an ideal candidate unless I choose to work full time. I did not want to work full time. I did not want to be away from Nathaniel for three days a week, especially since he will be starting Mother's Day Out program next month (twice a week for four hours). I stayed faithful to the Lord and deeply prayed for this (PRN) position. And so I am so, so very happy about this opportunity. Hospital orientation starts this week and will resume unit orient...

I recently accepted a per diem RN position and will most likely start working in the next couple of weeks. Dean and I did not plan on me returning to work (if ever) this soon especially since Nathaniel just turned six weeks yesterday. To be honest, when I started applying for per diem positions earlier this month, I didn't think I would already be offered a position three weeks later. The job only requires me to work four days a month and be on standby every 7th weekend and one major holiday where I will get paid half of my hourly salary while being on standy. It truly is a great offer where it fits with our schedule (10-hr shift), earn extra $ while keeping up my nursing skills, and will only be away from my little boy once or twice a week and still able to spend time with Dean during the weekends. We're afraid that if we let this pass and wait until the regular 12-weeks maternity leave that I won't be able to find a job as flexible as this one. So after much discussion an...
