Thanksgiving 2013

For Thanksgiving this year, we decided to stay in Georgia instead of going home to Indiana. Because of that, we were finally able to resume a Thanksgiving tradition after a two year hiatus. We invited Hubby's friends/co-workers who didn't go to their hometown too spend the holiday with us in our house. I really love this tradition we started in Monterey, CA back in 2009. A few highlights (and lowlights) about our Thanksgiving this year: On Thanksgiving eve, I had to remake the pumpkin cinnamon rolls dough, which we were going to have for Thanksgiving breakfast. I forgot that I placed the dough to rise in the oven and pre-heated it without checking. I just so happened to use the last of my yeast, too. Hubby goes out to the supermarket #1 at 9:30 pm. While making the icing for the pumpkin cinnamon rolls, I used butter instead of whole milk. I thought it tasted fine (hmmm… butter!) but Hubby thought it was gross. I happene...

Life As Is

My relationship with the military remains to be love-hate. For example, what are we doing living in Georgia when all the Super Bowl festivities are going on in our hometown? But then opportunities like last Saturday happens and I am so thankful we are a military family.   This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of meeting Hannah (at Life As Is ) and her adorable little boy in person. I have been following her blog for more than two years now and "witness" little Aiden grow up from when he was still in his mommy's tummy to now when he is about to turn two years old. We got together at a beautiful little town of Greensboro, GA where I also took Aiden's two year old pictures. He's a typical toddler where you have to run to keep up with him but we all know I have plenty of practice from my own little toddler. And with those be-a-uuuuu-ti-ful blue eyes? I'll gladly chase him all day. And Hannah is also as lovely as she seems in her blog. I forgot t...

Just Another Day in Paradise

We went to Houston over the Labor Day weekend and spent the holiday with Dean's friend MacAskie and his family. We have met his family several times back when we lived in California and they visited Mac in Monterey. But this truly gave us the opportunity to get to know his family. We all had such a wonderful time and we really felt at home. Rose, Mac's madre (that's what he calls her), cooked everything from scratch and the food was ohmygoodness-delicious. She really inspired me to cook everything from scratch more often/always. Little One loves washing his hands While we were there, we also had the pleasure of meeting Gabby (at Just Another Day in Paradise ) and her precious family in person. After a quick lunch, we all headed to the Children's Museum of Houston where the kids played for hours. I have been following her blog for almost two years now. We have so many things in common, which makes me feel like I can relate to her when I read her bl...

Washington Township Splash Park

Nathaniel and I went to the splash pad in Washington Township Park yesterday with church/family friends. It took a lot quicker for him to start playing in the water compared to last time . But unfortunately, we didn't stay very long even though he was having such a great time because it was soooo hot! This was Katie's first time in the splash park so she was a little hesitant. She was perfectly content watching other kids play in the water and stayed very close to Grandma Emily. I'm really going to miss this when we go back to Texas in a couple days. I mean, just look BIG smile! I might be biased... but isn't he one of the cutest (if not the ) toddlers you have ever seen?! :) Such a precious face!

Bubbles

When we were in Indiana earlier this month, we spent a lovely afternoon catching up with family/church friends. And after a delicious meal and fellow-shipping, Nathaniel and little Miss Katie went outside to play with bubbles. I tried bubbles with Nathaniel a couple of months ago but it always ended up badly because he wanted to blow the bubbles himself. This time however, he had a great time catching the bubbles with Katie! Katelynn truly is a blessing from God. She was born prematurely but she has blossomed into a beautiful big girl! Emily (Katie's grandma) gave me tomato, dill, basil, and oregano plants that I am finally planting to a proper place this weekend. The Texas sun has not been too kind so I'm resorting to container vegetable garden so I could move them if necessary. Nathaniel and I hope to see them all again when we go back to Indiana in a few weeks for my nephew's second birthday!
